Monthly Real Estate Market Update September 2020

With thanksgiving coming up this weekend, there’s a lot to look forward too!
Did you know that the average person consumes between 3,000 and 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving? And then it takes you 10 hours and 30 minutes to burn off those calories? With this long year there’s still lots to be thankful for. Thank you for your friends, your family, where we live, and of course, the housing market.
Last month year-over-year housing prices were up across our communities: approximately 14% in Barrie, 14% in Bradford, 13% in Newmarket, and 14% in the Toronto area.
For September 2020 vs. September 2019, you’ll see the transactions were virtually the same as August 2020. When we look at the average sale price we’re up drastically in all of our communities when you compare it to last year. As always, we’re seeing the same trends with the inner city buyers coming into more rural areas and with the interest rates at historic lows, we’re still seeing a good market.

The average sale price was up in September 2020 over September 2019: in Barrie, the average sale price was about $567,916, in Bradford, the average sale price was about $867,013, in Newmarket, the average sale price was about $944,759, and in Toronto, the average sale price was about $960,772.
